‘Waiting for Christmas’ Kerrang! Radio Premiere & Update on the Release

Hey! We are so excited to launch our new single this week! ‘Waiting for Christmas’ was not a track I saw coming honestly, but we hope you will love it and join the bid to support the Red Cross. 100% of sales and streams of the single are donating to the Red Cross Coronavirus Fund – supporting those affected by poverty.

So I’m delighted to announce that the single is being premiered by the legend that is Johnny Doom. He’ll be playing it on his show on Kerrang! Radio this Thursday! Tune in with us between 10pm-1am and check it out http://kerrangradio.co.uk

This means we get to unveil the epic single artwork by Daniella Batsheva. We totally love it – it even captures the feeling! It’s actually one of three cover artworks, releasing with the 3 different versions of the song!

‘Waiting for Christmas’ Out 18th December in Support of Red Cross Coronavirus Fund

This Friday, the official release website launches too. We’ll be hosting the premiere of the music video there, as well as via YouTube. The video was filmed during the recording session. This means that myself, Diana Bartmann (drums) Jennifer Sanin (bass / backing vocals), Celia Pedregal (violin) and Kate Shortt (cello) were actually tracking instruments while the video was happening! This was an experience and it was brilliant to have Director Mike Gripz at the helm. Join us to watch it, 8PM FRIDAY at www.waiting4christmas.com and at YouTube.com/criminalrecordsuk

There’s a lot of positive things happening, but I have to take it back for a moment to expand on why we are doing this release and why I chose the Red Cross as the charity. It’s clear that the pandemic and lockdowns have been a huge challenge in our lives. So many people are suffering right now.  People who have lost loved ones due to coronavirus, as well as a result of hospitals cancelling vital treatments.  The situation right now means that many families are not even able to grieve together, while also facing financial hardship such as being furloughed, made redundant or even homeless ahead of Christmas.  The Red Cross has an incredible reputation as a charity and were early to announce their Coronavirus Crisis Fund to support those affected by poverty during the pandemic

We’ve announced a chart bid for the single and are releasing 3 versions of the song and on different formats – all of which count to the chart. That said it would be VERY unusual for an independent single to chart at Christmas because of the major label monopoly over it – of course we will give it a go. However, we know the single is an underdog, by the design of the music industry, but I am appealing to our supporters and to Christmas and music lovers in our community…  If we can raise even a few hundred pounds for those affected by poverty during the pandemic, and support families, we would love to do that. We have lost tens of thousands of people before their time, and so many families are suffering and feel alone.  With the single, we are collectively raising a candle for all those we have lost and showing solidarity with our wider community this Christmas.
