It’s almost unbelievable that the music video for “Mario” is actually 5 years old today! The story behind Mario was in part inspired by the frustration I was feeling as a musician. It was after all the talk with Warner USA went cold, so at the time I felt really let down by the whole thing. “Mario” was about being sold a dream – but when you get to the destination you worked so hard to arrive at, you realise it’s nothing but a wasteland. It’s deserted, it’s a warzone and it’s left the city trashed, crime is rife and the air is over polluted.

Actually the video you see is the second music video that was shot.. since a director shot footage for the first version and then did not produce a video. So finally shooting the video again with director Mike Gripz was really full on but a lot of fun though – the deserted London scenes took hours of patience, the demolished buildings you see are literally demolition sites we broke into to film with some questionable safety…
